"One day, you'll understand"

One day, you'll understand why I don't let you play near the road. One day, you'll understand why I can't say "yes" to everything. One day, you'll understand why mommy and daddy need time alone. One day, you'll understand that food is expensive and why I encourage you not to waste. One day, you'll understand why I made you hold my hand. One day, you'll understand why I made you erase and rewrite your unreadable writing. One day, you'll understand why I make you take your vitamins, probiotics and brush your teeth. One day, you'll understand why wearing a helmet and buckling your seatbelt properly is so important. One day, you'll understand the monotonous work that is doing your laundry, cleaning your dishes, and wiping the floors after every meal. One day, you'll understand why those things needed to be done and I couldn't play every second of every day. One day, you'll understand why I thought it important to take you on many adventures. One day, you'll understand why I prayed with you each night before you closed your eyes. One day, you'll understand why I don't allow you to watch a lot of TV or play the iPad until your eyeballs gloss over. One day, you'll understand why a little card doesn't contain endless amounts of money on it. So then one day, you'll understand why I couldn't buy you that toy you asked for at the store. One day, you'll understand why I spent so much time in the kitchen preparing meals, cleaning up, making you treats. One day, you'll understand why I made you wash your hands so much. One day, you'll understand why I rocked and cuddled you and your siblings so much. One day, you'll understand why I tried to make your childhood as magical as a possible. One day, you'll understand how beautiful Godly marriage is. One day, you'll understand why we went to church every Sunday. One day, you'll understand why I encourage you to give and give joyfully. One day, you'll understand why the world I shelter you from is so cruel. One day, you'll understand why I did those things. One day, you'll understand why I made my life harder and added home education to my plate. One day, you'll understand how much I took that seriously. One day, you'll understand why I read to you so much. One day, you'll understand why I said "no" 98% of the time to "can I have some candy?". One day, you'll understand why we had nightly dance parties and weekly movie nights. One day, you'll understand and make fun traditions and memories with your own kids. One day, you'll understand why I preached sharing and ridiculed selfishness. One day, you'll understand why I made you go out and play more than I let you stay inside. One day, you'll understand why I taught you "yes ma'am, yes sir". One day, you'll understand why I encouraged you to be gracious and thankful in all things. One day, you'll understand why I took so many pictures of you. One day, you'll understand why time is precious. One day, you'll understand why God allows His followers to experience pain and sorrow. One day, you'll understand why you're here and how you got here. One day, you'll understand the depth and breadth of Gods love for you. One day, you'll understand the joy of that first breath. And on that day, you'll [finally] understand just how much I love you. Love, Mommy
