Ladies, when I first read Proverbs 31, I got annoyed... because I'll never be that perfect. Who is this woman that wakes up before her family, is beautiful and wise, kind and wonderful? I'm never all of these at the same time! Anyone who says they are a Proverbs 31 woman is lying to you.
We all put this unnecessary pressure on ourselves to become the perfect woman ... and especially us moms. We drive ourselves mad keeping up with the "so called' perfect mother that we see out in public or on social media.
But why?! Why do we do this to ourselves? Why do we throw our joy right out the window trying to live up to this perfect woman?
Instead, let us take the words of Proverbs 31 and just try to apply them to our lives. Take it a day at a time. I'm never going to be a Proverbs 31 woman, because well, I'm just not that perfect. But I am going to try my best to live by the wonderful words God has given us to help me become a beautiful woman and mom that is wise, kind, disciplined, and broken enough to know that I need Jesus to get through each and every day. When we serve our kids and others we are serving Jesus! What a calling, what a joy!
Let's keep our eyes focused on Him, not the perfect lady portrayed in Proverbs 31. This woman doesn't exist, but we should be ones striving to be just like her. No pressure, no worries, just getting up daily and trying our very best to serve in love.
Here's an awesome blog that I found that breaks down the verses of Proverbs 31! It's really awesome. http://daughterbydesign.wordpress.com/2011/06/18/becoming-proverbs-31-girl-✓/
