Manna

When hoarding equals a lack of faith.

Just enough.

For today.

When gathering enough for your tomorrow's is a sin.

Lack of trust. Peering into the next day and the next can certainly get us into a bad way.

A bad habit, in fact.

Have you ever wondered why God didn't want to allow the Israelites to gather more manna than they could eat for the day?!

I mean, what's wrong with putting the leftovers in Tupperware containers for the week?!

But you see, God knew that if he allowed the hoarding of extra food, that His stubborn people would begin to rely on their own plans and abilities.

God also knows that while being smart about the future is wise, living in those tomorrow's is not. He wants us fully present in the now. Fully reliant on Him today for today's provisions.

He gives us just enough.

He really does. Just enough for today's everything's. Enough endurance. Enough hope. Enough sustenance. Enough grace. Enough mercy. Enough. Not an abundance so we can spill over into the next weeks mishaps, but enough for right at this moment. This very second.

Why? Because He wants us. He wants our attention. He wants us to breathe Him in and exhale anticipating the next inhale. Because He loves us that much. He is so crazy about our well-being and longs so much for us to understand Him that He designed this life in such a way that just five minutes of navigating on our own feels like we're sinking the ship.

Because we are. We do. We constantly take over and raise the white flag when things get too difficult.

Just be here now. Just be. Here. Now. With Me. And breathe. Allow Me to feed you what you need. I already know what you need. No. No. Don't keep filling your arms with these loads. Put it all down. Just keep allowing me to provide. You keep your eyes right here. Don't move. This is where you thrive. I Am your manna.

Exodus 16:19 Then Moses told them, “Do not keep any of it until morning.”20 But some of them didn’t listen and kept some of it until morning. But by then it was full of maggots and had a terrible smell. Moses was very angry with them.
