CorkBoard Makeover

Ready for a super simple, super cute corkboard transformation?

Yesterday, I got the itch to make a master summer calendar for all of the activities that I plan to do with my children during these long, scorching months. I'm pushing myself to beat this anxiety thing, so I needed a visual to remind me to GET OUT every now and again.

I recalled having an old, sad-looking corkboard in our storage.

I have LOADS of fabric leftover from my sewing days so I went fabric shopping in my own house. (Super convenient, by the way.)

What you need: a wall-mounted corkboard, hot glue gun, some of your favorite fabric, and some twine or ribbon.

What you need: a wall-mounted corkboard, hot glue gun, some of your favorite fabric, and some twine or ribbon.

Then I found some twine leftover from Christmas gifts last year and I busted out my dusty, yet trusty, mini-glue gun.

I simply cut the chevron (I used a heavy-duty chevron fabric that's more durable than regular cotton fabrics) to size and began hot-gluing it to the face of the corkboard. Then, I took the frayed looking excess and "shoved" it gently under the inner frame of the board to conceal. I used a semi-sharp knife to do this.

The felt twine I hot-glued to the edges as an added trim and to dress it up a bit. I suppose you could use your favorite ribbon or rickrack as well!!

I found a "white board marker" pouch used for childrens worksheets (that you'd love to reuse). I simply hot-glued that to the fabric and used it to display this month's schedule!

I still have yet to buy some adorable looking push pins to display other small items, but overall, I'm very pleased with this "free-to-me" thirty minute craft.
